Quick note today. I think spring is in the air! We are finishing up many projects and are still learning a great deal of new information! Our story this week The Little Engine That Could taught us many important lessons. My favorite lesson or take away from this story is that we should all to keep trying to achieve the goals we have set! Never give up! That is our motto in room 183:)
Measurement lessons have been interesting. The neatest thing we have measured is the length and width of our 6 Painted Lady Caterpillars. It is a challenge to measure them (starting at 0) when they are moving around so much! Please ask your child about the life cycle of the butterfly. Speaking of life cycles, we made a trip to Mrs. Beauregard's first grade class and witnessed baby chicks that were just born and some who were just starting the process. Pretty neat stuff! Thanks Mrs. Beauregard!
We also began our unit on the solar system. This is to build background knowledge before we head to the Magic School Bus play on the topic. Ask your child if the sun moves or if the earth moves. Please ask your child to explain their answer. We talked about debates and scientists who asked question hundreds of years ago....and what modern science has proved. For a challenge...ask them who Galileo is:)
I could go on and on, but will end on the homework packet that is going home today. The family project is the school wide interview that went home on Tuesday and again on Thursday this week. This will be our last family homework project this year. The Dibels practice packet is going home today. Our class will be assessed sometime during the next few weeks. I am not sure when. Please practice the activities that are in the packet and have your child return the packet to school on Friday.
As always, thank you for your continued support. The weather promises to be beautiful this week-end! Have a wonderful week-end!
